[L-USA] Pulpit Rock, PA box temporarily removed

From: Marty Chamberlain (martyc@cyberdude.com) | Date: 1999-01-25 09:07:05 UTC-05:00
Hello all!

I was out placing The Pinnacle letterbox yesterday and stopped in to check
on the Pulpit Rock box. The good news is that someone visited the box on
1/1/99! My compliments to the person who visited on a very nice personal
stamp. Thanks for visiting (if you're seeing this).

The bad news is that the bottom of the letterbox container had a bunch of
cracks in it, that would allow water into the box. My guess is that the
wieght of snow/ice on the box, coupled with a small pointy rock under it
was too much for the container. Thankfully, the contents were damp, but
undamaged.

I've temporarily removed the box until I can replace the container. That's
the last time I'll use a "cheap" plastic container. Anyway, I'll let
everyone know when it's back in place.

Marty

That may have answered a question for me. I have been considering using
some of those newfangled semi-disposable containers that are hitting the
market. They seem like they have a decent seal, but the plastic is much
thinner than the good old sandwich keepers.

Have your tried your local chemist. We use the containers that they get there large supplies of pills in. They are normally grey or white about 5" to 6" high 3" across and round. They are perfect if you can get them air tight water proof the lot. A hospital is a great source of supply.

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of that! Thanks Adrian!

Erik,

I don't know the brand name, but it's a tupperware-wannabe with a clear
container and a dark blue lid. Mt. Minsi is in the same container, but I
haven't had a chance to check on its condition since placement. These
containers were VERY inexpensive.

The Pinnacle is in a "Rubbermaid"-brand sandwitch keeper-type container
with a beige lid. Pulpit Rock will be placed in the same sort of container
(since I have one left).

I plan to investigate other types of containers...I'll keep you all posted
if you like.

Marty,
In an on-going quest for the ideal (or avoidance of the non-ideal)
letterbox container, I'd like to know what "cheap" plastic container you
used?

Glad you had a visitor!
Erik
